MMOOS MMeeting Offers Web Browser Tips and Tricks
11/10/06

What computer software do you use the most? For most consumers, the answer is probably a toss-up between their email program and their web browser. As many people manage their mail through a web browser, it’s probably safe to proclaim the web browser the most widely used computer productivity program among the general populace (besides Solitaire on Windows PCs, of course).

Are you using your web browser to the full extent of its capabilities? Are you worried about all the personal information you funnel through your browser to online stores and services? Are you overrun with Favorites and Bookmarks? Does your web browser sometimes refuse to display media and other goodies you think it should? Are you web surfing more and enjoying it less? Has your browser slowed to the speed of molasses in November? Are you scared of cookies? Molasses cookies? In November?

If your answer to any of these questions was “yes”, why not come by the Main Meeting Room in Building 25 of the Thornton Oaks Retirement Community in Brunswick next Tuesday, November 14th at 6:30 PM. There you’ll find the monthly gathering of MMOOS, our local Apple Macintosh User Group. As you may have guessed, our feature program next week will be “Taking Control of Your Web Browser”. We’re going front-to-back, inside-and-out of the whole web browsing experience. How to be more efficient, how to protect yourself, amazing things your browser can do that you didn't even know it can do, and more. You’re certain to leave a more confident, more knowledgeable web surfer.

Plus, you might also leave with an iPod shuffle. Yep, we’re gonna give one away at the meeting, free of charge. You do have to be present to win, however.

Speaking of presents (nice segue, eh?), if you’re like most people, you’re going to be buying them in droves in the coming six weeks. So, next week we’ll devote the second half of our meeting to the first annual MMerry MMOOS Holiday Gift Extravaganza. We’ll demo, discuss, and display gift ideas ideas for the those special Mac users in your life, even if that’s just you. We’ll have several examples on hand, from stocking stuffers to “heavy iron”. Should be fun.

For more information about MMOOS as well as directions to the meeting, point your web browser at mmoos.net. Ho-ho-hope to see you there.
